Deconstructivist Tendencies

{ Life }

April 22, 2005

I knew I had deconstructivist tendencies, at least with the way I eat sandwiches. I like to eat sandwiches first as the melange of ingredients, and then one element at a time for the second half or so. I guess Walt Whitman would call this ‘prying through the strata.’

But, my, did I have a strange dream last night. Due to some undefined and grievous accident, I had been subjected to dozens of surgeries for rectification. I was a walking nose bleed and frailty racked me.

Logically, the day after my epic surgery-fest I was shopping for wedding gowns. But this entailed being curled up on the top shelf of a bookcase and explaining to my mom (irate) and the gown salesperson (bemused/mystified) that I couldn’t unfurl because I “had a new stomach,” a product of the previous day’s operations.

I couldn’t understand why I would have such a dream until I remembered that I watched I Heart Huckabees last night. Those who have seen it might draw the connection.
