I Think I'm In Love with Benjamin Franklin and Here's Why

I was watching a DVD of a PBS documentary about Benjamin Franklin tonight and I realized he might be the most awesome human being ever. I also realized that his essence seems to reflect the combination of Mr. Pencil and myself, namely:

  • Scientific endeavors and wanting-to-do-stuffness: Mr. Pencil. Franklin would invent simplified fireplaces, bifocals and, well, electricity, more out of a significant elevation of character than anything else. That’s Mr. Pencil, see. Franklin would do stuff like re-factor the entire postal service, on a whimsical inspiration. So would Mr. Pencil.
  • Quest for knowledge and a carefully-honed philosophy: Mrs. Pencil. Franklin read everything he could get his hands on, was a printer, loved travel, and developed his own sense of morality that engendered progressiveness, love and beauty. That’s Mrs. Pencil, see (i.e. me).
  • Overlap: Mrs. Pencil loves Mr. Pencil’s ideas and the pushing notion of being “interesting”, and Mr. Pencil also has a very developed philosophy and love of knowledge.

So. I’m in this beautiful thing with Mr. Pencil, and we’re Benjamin Franklin. I’m just saying.
