Why so Quiet?
January 21st, 2008I haven’t posted anything in a few days because I’m not sure how to or
whether I want to. But I should.
In October, I had a bit of intestinal bleeding that involved a trip to
the ER and a gastroenterologist. It was supposed that it was an
innocent event, but the GI doc gave me the option of having a
colonoscopy if I wanted (with a slight twist–under general
anesthesia). I ended up taking him up on the offer and the general
assumption was that it would come out clean.
Except it didn’t. I had the procedure on Friday, and during it, a mass
or masses were discovered on my appendix. According to my hazy memory
of the doctor’s explanation, it’s fairly rare. Right now I’m waiting
for biopsy results. At the very least, my appendix and the offending
lumps will need to come out, but that can’t happen until they can tell
how big they are which can’t happen until Friday, which was the first
available CT scan appointment.
So I’m waiting now and trying to stay optimistic and happy. I really
think this could all turn out OK. As a silver lining, maybe this will
clear up some of my chronic, infamous digestive issues that have
plagued me most of my life. Maybe it’s all good?
