What goes through your Head?

A quick poll of myself shows that these three songs go through my head more than any other:

1. Mah na Mah na (The Muppets). I sing this to myself. A lot. And the whistling.

2. “All the Things She Said” by T.A.t.U. What’s worse than bubble-gum Eurotrash girlpop? Having it stuck in your head for five years. I think it’s the way its rhythm is in fives: la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la. My second weakness here is that I speak enough Russian to understand the original version (“Ya Soshla S’uma”–translates to roughly “I went away from my mind” or more obviously and idiomatically “I went out of my mind”). Watch it here, if you dare. Lots of hot chick makeoutness.

3. The Oscar Mayer Weiner Song. I wish it would die.

You?

  1. The theme from Super Mario Brothers is my constant “pause” song. I’m in line at the store waiting for the cashier, it starts up. Waiting in traffic. Yah. There it is again. Waiting for a build. Uh-huh.

Thank god I don’t hear the Oscar Mayer song…

  2. tODD says:

Until recently, I had some Decemberists song stuck in my head for days. Except, maddeningly, I kept hearing the lyrics “Los Angelees, I’m yours” and thinking “Los Ungulates, I’m yours.” I cannot explain this, but it made it all the more annoying.

Thanks to my typing this comment, the song is now back in my head.

T.A.t.U. was a wonderfully packaged pop moment. Even better was “Not Gonna Get Us”. That wacky Trevor Horn (Buggles, etc.).
