New Entryway Chandelier/Light: A Story in Pictures

June 9th, 2008

Possibly the Ugliest Chandelier in the World?

Look at that monstrosity. It was the first thing we swore we’d get rid of/set on fire/throw off a cliff when we moved into our house, but it took us a year and a half to do so. What could possibly be more inappropriate for a 120-year-old Victorian than a circa-1990 Home Depot special? I believe it’s from the “Tacky/Tract House Deluxe” line. I like how the fake candles have crooked, octagonal drip trays. What’s not to love?

Ah, Much Better

Ahhhhh, much better. Though a phenomenal pain in the ass to install, our new light is far less punishing to the senses.

Now when people come to our door they don’t have to grimace.

You can get anywhere from 2 to 89 lights per cluster in this series (ours has 19). The sconces (above) are tempting, but a bit too “nutsack.”
