One thing that I have done right in my life is my domain.

I was together enough to register lyza.com in the mid-90s.

I was together enough to maintain some semblance of Web presence.

Google developed a strong relationship with my site.

Anyone in the world who needs me or wants to know about me can find me by just typing four letters.

My email address is extremely obvious. And short. My shortest email is x@xxxx.xxx

Yesterday I was also lucky enough to score lyza —at— pdx dot edu. PSU with its billions and billions of students has never seen another Lyza, I guess. It sure beats my last PSU email address (psu03146@odin.cc.pdx.edu). I got that one in 1994.

Update: This post makes me sound self-congratulatory. That wasn’t the tone I was going for. I meant more to express happiness. But I’m far, far too busy to re-write it.

I think this is pretty nifty, and it’s why I’m glad to use a Creative Commons license on my photos at Flickr.

• An article about Bengal-proofing your Christmas tree. The photo of the two bengals are my two former kitties. I miss them so much.
•  An article in a Forensic blog about sexually-violent predators in California! I don’t make this stuff up!
• Blog post about riding bikes in Mosier, Ore.
• Inexplicably, a blog on move.com uses a photo of my basement (it looks pretty BAD in the photo, too) to illustrate an article about renovating basements. OK, I guess it sort of makes sense. Sort of?
• And, this is getting kind of out of control. Yeas ago I used to be not just the first hit on a Google search for Lyza, but effectively the only one. Now there’s pages of Lyzas, and they’re even making a scripting language?

I have to admit, I feel self-conscious like 9th grade. My new glasses are very bold and I’m not sure it they rock or make me look like Garth from Wayne’s World. I’m fairly certain they can’t look awesome if I don’t believe they look awesome (that whole self-assurance thing). Vicious cycle! Poor Lyza. It’s 3rd-person day.
